Par 5
|
|
Considered by many to be the best hole on the course, this wonderful Par 5 embodies the best of classic golf course architecture. Strategy, and accuracy become increasingly important when you near the green, as an enormous Valley Oak shadows the fairway 125 yards from the green, and affects many second and third shots. The fairway bottlenecks opposite the Oak, and then ascends at a 30-degree angle to a severely sloped green set on top of a hill between two more large Valley Oaks. Pitches and chip shots are awkward due to uneven lies, and a cavernous bunker on the right catches many shots. The front half of the green is particularly slick, and shots struck with any amount of backspin often spin off the green. Par is a good score here.
